New Novel Chapter 16

 Chapter 16: The Gala Invitation

The anticipation for the school gala swept through The Andrews School like a tidal wave. Flyers adorned the walls, each vibrant poster promising an evening filled with enchantment, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Students buzzed with excitement, speculating on outfits, decorations, and, most importantly, dates.

Hugh Clark, sitting in his favorite corner of the library, felt a mixture of thrill and anxiety as he contemplated asking Eliza to the gala. Ever since they arrived at The Andrews School, their bond had grown stronger, and the idea of taking her to the event filled him with hope.

“Hey, Hugh,” Sam said, plopping down in the seat across from him, a wide grin on his face. “Have you thought about who you’re taking to the gala?”

Hugh glanced up, a smile creeping onto his face. “Actually, I’m thinking about asking Eliza.”

“Nice! I can’t wait to hear how you’re going to do it,” Sam replied, his excitement contagious. “Just make sure it’s memorable.”

“Yeah, I have an idea,” Hugh said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “I just need to find the right moment.”

After their study session, Hugh decided to share his plans with the rest of their friends. He gathered them in the common room, where they were lounging and chatting. Fiona, Mish, and Eliza were seated in a circle, laughter echoing around the room.

“Hey, everyone!” Hugh called, drawing their attention. “I have something to share.”

“What is it?” Eliza asked, her eyes bright with curiosity.

“I’m planning to ask Eliza to the gala,” Hugh announced, trying to keep his voice steady. The room erupted in cheers and supportive claps.

“About time!” Fiona teased, nudging Eliza playfully. “I thought you two would never figure it out!”

“Seriously, that’s awesome!” Mish added, beaming at them both.

Sam chuckled, leaning back in his chair. “Just make sure you do it in style. You know she deserves a grand gesture.”

Hugh nodded, his confidence growing. “I’ll make it special. Thanks, guys!”

Later that day, during their basic spells class, Hugh felt a surge of inspiration. The classroom was alive with magic, students practicing their spells under the watchful eye of their instructor. It was the perfect setting for what he had in mind.

As the instructor turned to demonstrate a new incantation, Hugh took a piece of parchment and quickly scribbled a note, his heart racing with anticipation. He folded it neatly and concentrated, channeling his energy toward the note. With a flick of his wrist, he levitated it towards Eliza, who was seated a few rows ahead.

The note floated gracefully through the air, capturing the attention of their classmates. Eliza’s eyes widened in surprise as she caught the note, a smile blooming on her face. She opened it, her eyes scanning the message:

Eliza, will you go to the gala with me? – Hugh.

Eliza’s heart skipped a beat. She looked back at Hugh, who was watching her intently, a hopeful expression on his face. Their eyes locked, and in that moment, all the noise of the classroom faded away.

“Yes!” Eliza mouthed, her face lighting up with joy.

The exhilaration of her answer seemed to reverberate through the room. Hugh’s grin widened, and he felt a rush of happiness wash over him. He couldn’t believe she had said yes.

Their instructor, noticing the distraction, cleared her throat. “Class, please focus on your spells. Let’s save the romantic gestures for after the lesson!”

Laughter erupted, and the atmosphere in the room became even more lively. Eliza couldn’t help but smile, her heart fluttering as she turned back to her friends, who were exchanging teasing glances.

“You two are officially the cutest couple in the school,” Fiona teased, winking at them.

Mish added with a playful smirk, “We’ll need to start planning your matching outfits for the gala!”

As the class continued, Eliza felt a glow of happiness radiate from her. The prospect of attending the gala with Hugh was thrilling, and she could hardly wait for the evening to arrive. The magic surrounding their school made everything feel more vibrant and alive, heightening her anticipation for the event.

After class, Hugh walked alongside Eliza, their hands brushing against each other as they left the classroom. The excitement in the air was infectious, and Hugh felt his heart race at the thought of spending the evening with her.

“I can’t believe you said yes!” Hugh said, his voice bubbling with enthusiasm. “This is going to be amazing.”

“Of course, I wanted to go with you!” Eliza replied, her cheeks flushed with joy. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

As they made their way back to the common room, Hugh felt a sense of confidence blooming within him. They discussed plans for the gala, laughing and sharing ideas about what they could wear and how they wanted the evening to unfold. The bond between them deepened, and Hugh couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something truly special.

As the day turned into night, the anticipation of the gala hung in the air like a spell waiting to be cast. Hugh knew that whatever happened, it would be an unforgettable night filled with magic, laughter, and the blossoming of new connections.
